Trip overview
The Dales High Way follows drovers ways, pack horse tracks and green lanes through the Dales taking in Malham Dale, climbing the mighty Ingleborough, then Whernside, then wonders through Dentdale to Sedbergh and on to the foot of the Howgills. We’ll then traverse the limestone pavement of Great Ashby Scar before ending the walk in Appleby.
Dales High Way walking holiday itinerary
Here is our preferred itinerary for the walk with the overnight stops however this could change if there’s no accommodation available (we may have to use more than one accommodation provider in the place where we stay).
We’ll be staying in Inns, Guest Houses and hotels. Not all rooms will have private ensuite and all that you have to carry is a day sack as we’ll transport your luggage for you each day. The maximum weight is 20kg for one item of luggage per person.
Day 1 – Arrive in Saltaire
Day 2 – Saltaire – Skipton 18 miles
Day 3 – Skipton – Settle 18.5 miles
Day 4 – Settle – Chapel le Dale 14.5 miles
Day 5 – Chapel-le-Dale – Sedbergh 15.5 miles
Day 6 – Sedbergh – Newbiggin on Lune 11 miles
Day 7 – Newbiggin on Lune – Appleby 12.5 miles
Day 8 – Depart after Breakfast
Included in the cost is 7 nights bed and breakfast, luggage transfer for the duration of holiday and a guide. Places are limited to 12 people.
