Ben Nevis is the tallest Mountain in the U.K at 1344 meters high for those people who walk the West Highland Way it marks a fitting end to a fantastic week long walking holiday and marks a sense of achievement and go away with life long memories and achieve with like minded people
We take the tourist path up , the walk starts with a steep climb out of Glen Nevis along a well maintained path it eventually flattens out before reaching Lochan Meall an-t suidhe at 570 meters it is known as the halfway Lochan it is a good place to stop, just after Red Burn we start climbing the famous zig zags as the path approaches the summit we leave the zig zags and the gradient gets easier, the summit is on a plateau the views in clear weather are awe inspiring with paramania mountain scenery views all around, we return to the finish the same way we came down the walk is 10 miles
The name from Gaelic means heaven, the mountain is the remains of a volcano, on the summit there was a 4 bed room hotel that closed in 1916 and in 1911 a car was driven up to the summit.
