Coast to Coast Guided Walking Holiday

Join us on our Coast to Coast Guided Walking Holiday and follow in the footsteps of Alfred Wainwright. This is a fully guided walk led by a qualified Mountain Leader.

The full route is 192 miles long. It starts at St Bees on the west coast and ends at Robin Hood’s Bay on the east coast. Along the way, you cross the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.

A Classic Walk Across England

The route begins in Cumbria and passes through the Lake District. Much of this section follows valleys between the fells. The highest point is Kidsty Pike, which reaches 780 metres.

You will also pass through Grasmere, one of the best-known villages in the Lake District.

Through the Yorkshire Dales

After the Lake District, the walk continues into the Yorkshire Dales. This section includes open fells, wide views and peaceful meadow valleys.

The route passes through Swaledale and on to Reeth, often known as the capital of Swaledale. From there, we continue to Richmond.

Richmond is the largest town on the Coast to Coast route. It has a striking castle, a traditional market square and plenty of places to relax. We enjoy a well-earned rest day here.

Across the Vale of York and North York Moors

From Richmond, we head across the Vale of York. This part of the route is flatter, but it includes one of the longest walking days.

We then reach the edge of the North York Moors. This section has open tracks, heather-covered moorland and big views.

After passing through Glaisdale, we continue towards the coast. The walk finishes at Robin Hood’s Bay, where we reach the North Sea.

Accommodation and Luggage Transfers

You will stay in bed and breakfasts or hotels during the holiday. Your luggage will be moved for you each day.

This means you only need to carry a day sack with food, water and spare clothing. It makes the walk more enjoyable and helps you focus on the route, views and experience.
