Product Description

The Wharfedale 3 Peaks is a rewarding challenge walk across three of the highest summits in Wharfedale. These are Great Whernside (704m), Buckden Pike (702m) and Firth Fell (610m). The full route covers 18 miles, with around 1200 metres of ascent. We aim to complete the walk in around 10 hours.

This route offers a quieter option than the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. It feels more remote and less crowded. You will walk across open moorland, steady climbs and wide ridgelines. On clear days, there are far-reaching views across the Yorkshire Dales. It is a tough challenge, but it is manageable for those with a good level of fitness.

What to expect on the day

Over the course of the walk, you may burn up to 5000 calories and lose 3–4 litres of fluid. It is important to bring enough food, water and suitable clothing.

You can expect:

  • A full-day guided walk across three peaks
  • A steady pace with breaks along the route
  • A supportive group environment
  • A strong sense of achievement at the end

The experience is about more than distance. Many walkers enjoy the shared challenge and the sense of achievement at the finish. It is also a great option for charity fundraising.

The walk is fully guided by a qualified mountain leader. You do not need to worry about navigation or planning. This allows you to focus on the walk and enjoy the day.

What Route We Will Take

We meet in Kettlewell before setting off to climb Great Whernside. From there, we continue to Buckden Pike before descending into Buckden. The final climb takes us up Firth Fell, before returning to Kettlewell to finish.
